He was loved and cherished by many people including: his parents, Cecil Wachtel and Marie Wachtel (Stacy); his wife Beth Wachtel (Osborne) of Olney, Illinois; his children, Michael Roy (Kelli Farmer) of Olney, Eric Wachtel (Patty) of Viera, Heath Roy (Heather) of Evansville, Indiana, Christine Speith of Olney and Heather Lowrey (Jackie) of New Harmony, Indiana; his grandchildren, Logan Speith, Jax Lowery, Ruben Wachtel, Jason Wachtel, Bayne Roy Braxton (Hailee Stangle) and Emily Lowrey (Eddie Goebel); and his pet Cooper. He was also cherished by his family and many friends.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the First Church of Olney.
