She was predeceased by: her parents, Ralph McDowell and Mary McDowell (Taylor); her husband Henry J. Smith; her sons, Richard Smith and Michael Smith; her siblings, Dale McDowell and Marjorie McDowell; her grandsons, Chad Grove Anderson and Jordan Christopher Lin; and her sons-in-law, Paul Lin and Jeff Wilson.

She is survived by: her daughters, Deborah Lin of Dundas, IL and Cindy Wilson of Bridgeport, IL; and her grandchildren, John Brandon Dunker of Indianapolis, IN, Katherine Lin of Indianapolis, IN and Michael Owen Lin of Houston, TX. She is also survived by six great-grandchildren.
