He was predeceased by: his parents, Dr. Stephen Emmett Reid, Sr. and Grace Bishop; his brother Michael Reid; and his brother-in-law Paul Weber. He is survived by: his wife Karen Nelson of Olney; his sons, Stephen (Emily Reid) of Sharon, MA and Daniel Reid of Chicago, IL; his sisters, Patricia Weber of Des Plaines, IL and Liddy (Ron Bartelstein) of Deerfield, IL; his siblings-in-law, Debbie Reid of Deerfield, IL, Anita and Robert Lombardi of Northport, FL; his grandchildren, Charlie, Lizzy and Sam; and his pet Jenny. He is also survived by numerous nieces and nephews.

In lieu of flowers, Stephen had requested that memorial donations in his honor be given to St. Joseph Catholic Church, Carle Center for Philanthropy (Richland County Hospice), the Humane Society of Olney, or Shelter Friends.
