He was predeceased by: his parents, Adam Schaffner and Mildred Schaffner-Eichler (Davis); his wife June Lucille Merrill; his brothers, George Edward Eichler, Howard "Hoppy" Eichler and Robert I. Schaffner; his stepson Robbie Purnell; and his nieces, Sonia Douglas and Lacey Mackelden.
He is survived by: his sister Susan Staley (Jeff) of Parkersburg, IL; his niece Angela White; his nephew Thomas White; and his daughter-in-law Dorene Brown Purnell. He is also survived by several stepchildren, grandchildren, nieces, and nephews.
