He was predeceased by: his parents, Phil Harlan and Edith Harlan (Marlow); his wife Barbara Ann Walters; and his brother Jimmie Harlan. He is survived by: his sons, Douglas Glen (Pam) and Dale William (Cindy); his girlfriend Violet Gibbs; his granddaughters, Brittney Smith (Caleb), Jennifer Kincaid, Briana Jones (Corey) and Jordan Harlan; his great grandchildren, Brayden, Addison Smith, Landry Kincaid, Finley, Harper and Dawson Jones; his stepgreat-grandson Camryn Smith; and his siblings, Sharon Bartlett, Jack Harlan (Joanna), Charles Harlan (Kim) and Gary Harlan (Donna). He is also survived by several nieces and nephews.
