With heavy hearts, we announce the death of Allen Dale Gunter of Orient, Illinois, who passed away on July 13, 2025 at the age of 72. Family and friends are welcome to leave their condolences on this memorial page and share them with the family.
He was predeceased by: his parents, Albert Gunter and Leona Gunter (Van Hoye); and his brothers, Dennis Gunter, Francis Gunter and Herschel Gunter.
He is survived by: his wife Dianne Gunter; his children, Marty Gunter (Vicki) of Christopher and Wendy Alsbury (Dan) of West Frankfort; his stepchildren, Billy Tanner (Kathy) of Benton, Steve Tanner (Keri) of West Frankfort, Becky Murphy (Gary) of West Frankfort and Nicky Bowers (Dennis) of Orient; his siblings, Gary Gunter (Dori) of Christpher, Donnie Gunter of Benton, Brenda Gunter of Christopher and Linda Wink of Mulkeytown; his sister-in-law Dawn Gunter of Christopher; his grandchildren, Michelle Helm, Alex Anderson, Molly Anderson (Zach Hubbard), Ashlee Dunston (Brett), Raelynn Allan (Jayson), Lucas Tanner, Ali Tanner, Carly Hoffard, Tony Bowers (Andi) and Stacey Petro (Josh); his close friends, Albert Carso, Betty Rice and Kim Cochrum; and also Mason Williams. He is also survived by twelve great grandchildren; several nieces and nephews.
Visitation was held on Thursday, July 17th 2025 from 12:00 PM to 2:00 PM at the Union Funeral Home (213 E Oak St, West Frankfort, IL 62896). A funeral service was held on Thursday, July 17th 2025 at 2:00 PM at the same location.
