He was predeceased by: his parents, Harland Cashman and Ethel Cashman (Carson); his wife Sharon L. Strandberg; and his brother Robert. He is survived by: his children, Alan Cashman (Sonya Clark) of Silvis, Beth Wilkinson (Chris Williams) of Davenport and Cara Cashman (Clint Coronell) of Silvis; his grandchildren, Allie Graham (Chester) of Davenport, Sarah Williams of Davenport, Christopher Williams, Jr. of Davenport and Cassie Clark of Moline; his great grandchild Lacey Graham; his brother Harland "Jim" Cashman of Reeds Spring, Missouri; and his sister-in-law Denise Baird (Scott).

Memorials may be made to the Orion United Methodist Church, where Rodney was a member.
