He was predeceased by: his parents, Fritchof Johnsen and Gertrude Johnsen; his sister Marguerite; his brother-in-law Wayne Boerema; his brother Dennis; and his sister-in-law Barbara Johnsen (John C. Choe). He is also survived by his many nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews.
