He was loved and cherished by many people including: his wife Carolyn; his children, Kenneth Scanlan (Amy), Michael Scanlan (Melanie), Karen Barrett (Kevin), Maureen Kolk (Jason), Kelly Spilde (Jeremy) and Kathleen Scanlan; his grandchildren, Jack, Charlie, James, Grace, Ryan, Joseph, Kevin, Kathleen, Madison, Alyssa, Ava, Gianna, Aubrey, Patrick and Jacob; and his siblings, Marge Nye (Dale), Cheryl Hartman (late Bill), Tim Scanlan (Margie), Brian Scanlan (Laura) and Kevin Scanlan (Kay).
