He is survived by: his spouse Annamae; his children, Richard (Lorilee), Randall (Debra) and Russell Vander Velde (Lauren); his grandchildren, Jori Wegner (Joe), Kami Vinke (Steve), Hollin Dompeling (Bobby), Ryan Vander Velde (Amie), Brittany Vander Veer (Bennett), Kaylee Bettinardi (Samuel), Brett (Martha), Bradley (Hailey) and Austin Vander Velde (Kirstynn); his great grandchildren, Henrik, Theo, Everly, Arlo, Allyn, Huntleigh, Brooklyn, Bennett, Ryder, Adalynn, Charlotte, Jackson, Matteo, Luciana, Dominic, Zoey, Daphne, Suzanna, Claire, Boaz, Jude and Henry; and his siblings, Wilma Steenland, Ellie Wigboldy (Homer) and Ron.
A funeral service was held on Sunday, February 15th 2026 at 11:00 AM. Visitation was held on Sunday, February 15th 2026 from 3:00 PM to 7:00 PM at the Colonial Chapel Funeral Home & Crematory (15525 73rd Ave, Orland Park, IL 60462). A burial was held on Monday, February 16th 2026 at the Chapel Hill Gardens South (11333 S Central Ave, Oak Lawn, IL 60453).
