He was loved and cherished by many people including: his parents, Alex Bower and Helen Bower; his wife Karen; his children, Kim Rice (Ryan) of LeClair, IA and Robert Bower (Crystal) of South Bend, IN; and his grandsons, Heath and Jace Rice. He was also cherished by several nieces and nephews.

Memorials may be directed to St. Jude Children's Hospital.
