Joseph J. Engel Jr., 51, of Ottawa passed away Tuesday, November 29, 2011 at Ottawa Regional Hospital and Healthcare Center. Funeral Service for Joe will be 10:00 a.m. Monday, December 5, 2011 at St. Columba Church with Rev. David Kipfer officiating. Visitation will be 2:00 – 5:00 p.m. Sunday, December 4, 2011 at Ottawa Funeral Home with prayers at 4:00.

Burial will be in St. Columba Cemetery. Joe was born in Ottawa, Illinois April 22, 1960 to Joseph E. Engel Sr. and Vivian (Melgoza) Donovan. He was a Union Laborer. He was a member of the Marseilles Labor Hall #393. He is survived by his mother, Vivian (Allan) Donovan; his father, Joseph (Wendy) Engel; three daughters, Vanessa and Abigail Engel and Krystall O"Neal; two sons, Sean Engel and Colby O"Neal; two brothers, Robert (Terry Debernardi) and Steven Engel; three sisters, Kim (John) Merbs, Angela Sipula, and Dawn Engel; one step-brother, Chad (Tina) Donovan; five aunts, Theresa Melgoza, Anita Stevens, Mona Melgoza, Carol (Dale) McCormick and Janice (Dick) Lucas; one uncle, Tony Melgoza; his special girlfriend, Lynn Ann Thomas; and many nieces and nephews.

He is preceded in death by his brother, Ronnie Engel; his grandparents; and many aunts and uncles.
