He was predeceased by: his parents, Charles Gilbert and Maudie Gilbert; his brother Terry Gilbert; his parents-in-law, Thomas and Eileen Kelly; his brother-in-law Thomas Schmalz; and his niece Kristi Gilbert.

He is survived by: his wife Colleen Gilbert; his children, Daniel Gilbert (Lucia), Maggie Gilbert (James) and Thomas Gilbert (Anna); his grandson Cameron; his siblings, Patrick Gilbert (Carol), Maribeth Kamen (Larry) and Eileen Lesniak (Mike); and his siblings-in-law, Betsy Kennaugh (Mark), Maureen Kelly, Kathleen Kelly, Carol Gilbert and Steve Currier. He is also survived by cousins, nieces, and nephews.
