Ruth D. Opitz Obituary
It is with great sadness that we announce the death of Ruth D. Opitz (Palatine, Illinois), who passed away on June 25, 2025, at the age of 102, leaving to mourn family and friends. Family and friends are welcome to leave their condolences on this memorial page and share them with the family.
She was predeceased by: her parents, Rev. William Opitz and Lillian Opitz; her siblings, Carl (Mary), Herbert, Harold (Margaret) and Helen (Bruce Burtner); her fiancé Lt. Elmer Ehlers; her nephews, Steve and Carl (Adena); her close friend George Walter; and her friend Marge Bobbitt.
She is survived by: her sibling's children, Christine Moritz, Rob (Sharon), John (Debbie), Adena, Matt Burtner (Cheryl), Suzi (Ross Carmack), Cheryl Herring (Alan) and Stephanie Wallace (Rich); her great-nieces and great-nephews, Steven, Aaron, Jonathan, Kayla, Christopher, Kate, Liz, Molly, Drew, Matthew, Michael, Jeff and Jack; and also, Mason, David, Anthony, Andrew, Ray, Raleigh, Nora, Lydia, Elise, Alania, Mogan and Ellie.
A memorial service will be held on Saturday, August 9th 2025 at 1:00 PM at the Ahlgrim Family Funeral Home (201 N Northwest Hwy, Palatine, IL 60067).
