He was predeceased by: his siblings, Michael (late Brigid), Patrick, Joan Gavin (late John), Timothy (Joan), John (late Elizabeth) and Stephen (Teresa); and his siblings-in-law, Michael J. Gill, John P. Gill and Maria Whyte (Patrick).

He is survived by: his wife Margaret Agnes (Marge); his children, Margaret Boomsma (Daniel), Jeremiah (Molly) and Michael (Kathleen); and his siblings, Cornelius (late Mary), Brendan (Gretta), Bridget Garvey (late Patrick), Gerald (Phyllis) and Sheila Pigott (late John).

Visitation was held on Sunday, September 20th 2026 from 4:00 PM to 8:00 PM at the Palos-Gaidas Funeral Home (11028 SW Hwy, Palos Hills, IL 60465). A funeral service was held on Monday, September 21st 2026 from 10:00 AM to 10:30 AM at the same location. A prayer was held on Monday, September 21st 2026 at 10:30 AM at the same location. A Mass was held on Monday, September 21st 2026 at 11:30 AM at the St. Christina Church (3342 W 111th St, Chicago, IL 60655).
