She was predeceased by: her parents, Everett Wessel and Opal Wessel (Halbrook) of Ramsey, IL.; her granddaughter Elyn Rose Sims; her parents-in-law, Marvin and Catherine Sims; her sister Evelyn; her brother-in-law Bob Pilger; and her nephew Brent Pilger.

She is survived by: her husband Ronald Sims; her children, T. Scott Sims of Pana, IL, Travis Sims (Jodi) of Tower Hill, IL, Tyron Sims (Tiffany) of Tower Hill, IL and Tiffany Sims (Jeric Horsthemke) of Pana, IL; her grandchildren, Benjamin Sims, Madison Ashcraft, Carsen Sims, Chloe Ashcraft, Samuel Sims (Grace), Payson Ashcraft, Eilee Sims, Hayden Roeder (Victoria) and Lincoln Horsthemke; her niece Dr. Kathy Pilger of Greenville, SC; her cousins, Sue Black, Mary Lou Hartman, Tom Halbrook, Kay Miller, Annabelle Umberger, Bev Beyers, Jeri Weineke, Jeanne Kearney and Gary Wessel; her close friends, Jerry, Bev Stone, Bob Zueck, Deb Zueck, Kay Duduit, Trish Parkison and Cheryl Waller Croft; and her friend Joyce Baldock Trexler. She is also survived by several other nieces, nephews.

Memorials in Brenda's honor may be made to First Church of the Nazarene or Mid America Preparatory School and will be accepted by McCracken-Dean Funeral Home who is assisting the family.
