She was predeceased by: her parents, Carl A. Hielscher and Kathryn V. Hielscher (Vits); and her husband Lester J. Schmitz of Patrick's Catholic Church. She is survived by: her children, Kathleen Klein (John) of Pana, IL, Susan Beeson of Pana, IL, Joseph Schmitz (Cindy) of Pana, IL, Judith Waddington (Philip) of Herrick, IL and William Schmitz (Lisa) of Pana, IL; and her grandchildren, Eric Klein, John Klein Jr., Brooke Kiser (Greg), Kirk Klein, Candis Beeson, Carlee Beeson, Christian Miles (Myah), Jillian Sloan (Derek), Matthew Schmitz (Mallory), Rebecca Dagen, Bradley Cothern, Cody Schmitz, Quinten Schmitz and Chelsea Roysden (Dustin). She is also survived by 20 great grandchildren.

Memorials in Joyce's honor may be made to Sacred Heart School or St. Patrick's Catholic Church and will be accepted by McCracken-Dean Funeral Home who is assisting the family.
