He was predeceased by: his parents, Glen Coonce and Thelma Coonce (McMahon); his parents-in-law, Elmer and Mary Belle Wilson; his siblings, Bill, Jack, Tom Coonce, Betty Cusick and Sharon Baker; and his brother-in-law Donald Wilson.

He is survived by: his wife Kathryn "Jeanie" Coonce (Wilson); his children, Donna Coonce of Charleston, Illinois and Donald Coonce II (Nancy) of Greencastle, Indiana; his granddaughters, Brianna Arnold (Robert) of Melbourne and Brittany Coonce of Greencastle; his great grandchildren, Ayden of Melbourne, Robert, Jr. of Melbourne and Henley of Melbourne; his sister Susan Hoult of Chrisman; his brother-in-law Jack Wilson of Paris; and his family, Julia Miller of Charleston, Kelly Maron of Palm Bay, Florida, Robert Maron, Jr. of Palm Bay, Florida, Zachary Maron of Palm Bay, Florida and Kaytlynn Maron of Palm Bay, Florida.
