Gary A. Lawson Obituary

Gary Allen Lawson, 71, of Paris, Illinois, passed away at 6:55 p.m. EST Monday, February 21, 2022, at Terre Haute Regional Hospital in Terre Haute, Indiana. He was a retired automobile body repairman.

He was born June 26, 1950, in Vermilion, Illinois, the son of Earl and Anna (Whitesell) Lawson. He married Patricia Ann Flanders on June 20, 1980, in Vermilion, and she survives.

Other survivors include three children, Dawn Close (Roger) Hopper, John Close (Jordan McIlwain), and Scot Close (Brandy Switzer) all of Paris; nine grandchildren, Ashlyn Hays Beabout, Jessica James, Britany Nading, Ashli Close, Kendal Close, Willow Close, Madison Close, Hailey Close, and Kiera Close; two great-granddaughters, Scarlett and Sylvie J.; a sister-in-law, Shirley Lawson; and several aunts, uncles, nieces, and nephews. He was preceded in death by two brothers, Ronald and Jerald Lawson.

Mr. Lawson served in the United States Army during the Vietnam War. Gary will be remembered as a hard worker who demonstrated his love by way of sharing knowledge, experience, and sound advice.

SERVICE INFORMATION The family will host a celebration of Gary's life in June. Interment will be private in Paris Memorial Gardens at a later date. Templeton Funeral Home is assisting with arrangements.
