She was predeceased by: her father Walter Surma; and her brother Jeffrey Surma. She is survived by: her mother Corrine Surma (Algis Ankus); her siblings, Carla Surma and Scott Surma; her nephews, Michael, Frankie and Adam; her niece Samantha; her aunt Susan; her uncle Randall Patke; her significant other Ken Hogue; and her former husband Larry Jarosz.

In lieu of flowers, it was Dawn's wish that donations be made to the American Heart Association or Ocean Conservancy.
