John Uscian wrote a sympathy message

“I remember when i was about five years old and both my cousin Donnie and I were finding the old, weathered, lower jaw bones of cows (perhaps calves?) in the peripheral regions of the junkyard on our Uncle Frank's farm near Gilberts, Illinois. Donnie said that they were from wild boars. And I am sure he sincerely believed they were. I thought it was very exciting to be finding these wild boar remains (though then I had no idea what a wild boar is). Many other great memories. RIP, Donnie.”

Jan Frank wrote a sympathy message

“Don & I met in 1973 at Maine South HS in Park Ridge as Freshmen classmates in Mr. Johnson's Geography class. Never at a loss for words, I admired his quick-witted humor, happy go-lucky personallity & positive outlook. We had so many common interests, shared opinions & not being part of the "In-crowd" in school, we were destined to have a life-long, treasured friendship. Through the good times & bad, he always had my back & I had his. Until heaven reunites us again, he will be sorely missed!!!”

Steve B wrote a sympathy message

“Don was the consummate Renaissance Man. Always quick with a suggestion or a helping hand! He knew a lot about a lot and was willing to share! My lawn mower not starting? Don graciously takes the carb to shop and has it cleaned for me. My son’s Eagle Scout project at a standstill? Don spends an hour with Billy brainstorming possible solutions at a variety of different levels of complexity. Questions around a fire about opening sequence on The Rifleman? You get the idea!!! RIP Don M.”

“Don had a story for everything!! His stories about hunting and fishing and dogs, reminded me of my father. He adored his sons and talked about them with such pride. We had many fun years together in the Field School V-show and his house hosted many fabulous themed parties. The year he dug a moat , classic. Wish prayers and condolences to his family.
