He was predeceased by: his parents, V. F. "Bud" Wheeler and Nola M. Wheeler (Sickmeier); his wife Rosie Elease (Anderson); his brother Warren Wheeler; his son-in-law Steve Ruyle; and his grandson-in-law Brian Cornelius.
He is survived by: his children, Stacey Ruyle of Jerseyville, Tammy Nicholson (Brian) of Alton, Angie Bechel of Alton, Steven Wheeler (Rachael) of St. Peters and Scott Wheeler (Lynne) of Jeffersonville, Indiana; his grandchildren, Jenna Cornelius, Becca Ruyle, Britni Estes, Brandi Portwood, Taylor Bechel, Samara Wheeler, Garrett Wheeler and Wyatt Wheeler; his great grandchildren, Ryleigh, Avery, Rhett, Samantha, Bentlee, Andrew and Eli; and his brother Martin Wheeler of Alton.
Visitation will be held on Monday, June 30th 2025 from 5:00 PM to 8:00 PM at the Crawford Funeral Home (1308 IL-109, Jerseyville, IL 62052). A funeral service will be held on Tuesday, July 1st 2025 at 10:00 AM at the same location. A graveside service will be held on Tuesday, July 1st 2025 at 11:15 AM at the Borlin Cemetery. The military honors will be held on Tuesday, July 1st 2025 at the same location.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be given to the Kampsville American Legion Post #1083, an organization that meant the world to Perry and where his legacy will long be remembered.
