Mandrell; his children, Jami Holzwarth (Dale) and Jeremi Briggs (Melissa); his grandchildren, Zachary Gillespie (Dana), Blake Briggs (Hope), Lauren Holzwarth, Ashton Briggs and Kristen Holzwarth; his great grandchildren, Oliver Gillespie and Kallie Reese; and his sister Julene Briggs.
He served in Antarctica with the National Science Foundation; he loved his penguins.
