With profound sadness, we say goodbye to Martha May Thome of Pekin, Illinois, whose vibrant spirit touched the lives of many. She was predeceased by: her parents, Charles Whipperman and Daisy M. Utz-Frank; her children, Leah Surrells and Randy Hughes; and her sons-in-law, Bob Mercer and James Plowman.
She is survived by: her children, Marty Mercer of Pekin, Penny Plowman of Pekin and Bill Stermer (LeeAnn) of Pontoon Beach; Marlene Kroft of Dover, Pennsylvania.. She is also survived by nine grandchildren; thirteen great-grandchildren; five great-great-grandchildren.
Visitation will be held on Monday, November 3rd 2025 from 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM at the Preston-Hanley Funeral Homes & Crematory (500 N 4th St, Pekin, IL 61554). A funeral service will be held on Monday, November 3rd 2025 from 11:00 AM to 12:00 PM at the same location.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to a charity of the donor's choice.
