With profound sadness, we say goodbye to Rodney Witherell of Pekin, Illinois, whose vibrant spirit touched the lives of many. Rodney left this world on July 11, 2025 at the age of 87, leaving a void in the lives of so many people. You can send your sympathy in the guestbook provided and share it with the family.
He was predeceased by: his parents, Samuel K. Witherell and Virginia A. Witherell (Webb); his sister Barbara Hoopengarner; and his nephews, Doug Bateson, David Hoopengarner and Mark Hoopengarner.
He is survived by: his former wife Annette Staes; his daughter Denise Griffin of East Peoria; his stepchildren, Dan Brooks (Dixie) of Pekin and Vickie Walker of Vierra, Florida; his grandchildren, Katie Griffin, Gunnar Griffin (Nayeon "Naya") and Garrett Griffin; his stepgrandchildren, Rob Woll (Mandy), Tara Vaughn (Matt), Toni Cassidy (Bobby), Tanna Layton (Shane) and Tori Downs (Kevin); and his niece Rhonda Bateson-Pyatt (Jerry). He is also survived by fourteen step-great-grandchildren.
Visitation will be held on Friday, July 18th 2025 at 3:00 PM at the Preston-Hanley Funeral Homes & Crematory (500 N 4th St, Pekin, IL 61554). A memorial service will be held on Friday, July 18th 2025 at 4:00 PM at the same location.
