It is with great sadness that we announce the death of Alvin R Matheny of Peoria, Illinois, who passed away on August 4, 2023, at the age of 88, leaving to mourn family and friends. Family and friends are welcome to leave their condolences on this memorial page and share them with the family.

He was predeceased by: his parents, Cody Matheny and Margaret Matheny (Moffatt); his daughter Kathleen Sills (Kevin); his siblings, Tom Matheny, Dave Matheny, Bill Schlesinger and Janet Mitzelfelt (Don); and his nephew Shelby Matheny.

He is survived by: his spouse Beverly A Farrell; his children, Ken Matheny (Ann) of Peoria, Mike Matheny (Linda) of Clarksville, MO, Mary Ann Seelye (Ron) of St Peters, MO, Mark Matheny of Creve Coeur, Karen Burkitt (Joe) of Edwards and Dr. Kristy Papis (Ed) of Washington; and his sister Lucy Lobberecht of East Peoria. He is also survived by 21 grandchildren, 3 great-grandchildren.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to St Vincent de Paul Catholic Church or OSF Richard L Owens Hospice Home.
