It is with great sadness that we announce the death of Elizabeth Mathers Vonachen (Peoria, Illinois), who passed away on October 8, 2025, at the age of 85, leaving to mourn family and friends. She was predeceased by: her parents, Ansel Mathers and Evelyn Mathers (Scott); and her brother John. She is survived by: her husband Jay; her sister Nan Mikesell (Ralph) of Dunlap, Illinois; her son Matt Vonachen (Lesley) of Peoria; her grandchildren, Lucas (Sabrina), Alex (Kira), Isabella (Stephen) and Max (Kassie); her daughter Elizabeth Assalley of Fishers; her grandchildren, Andria (Connor), Alexa, George and Charlie; her daughter Molly Miller (Mike) of Peoria, Illinois.; and her great grandchildren, Cece and Quinn.
Visitation will be held on Sunday, October 12th 2025 from 2:00 PM to 6:00 PM and on Monday, October 13th 2025 from 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM. A funeral Mass will be held on Monday, October 13th 2025 at 11:00 AM at the St. Thomas Catholic Church (904 E Lake Ave, Peoria Heights, IL 61616).
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to St. Thomas Parish or the OSF Cancer Destination Center.
