He is survived by: his children, Richard Thiemann of Peoria, Rachel Bird (Geoffrey) of Chicago and Lauren Gallardo (Clay) of Honolulu; and his siblings, Dr. William Thiemann of Minneapolis, Bruce Thiemann (Teri) of East Peoria, Jeri Taylor (Tim) of Peoria and June Thiemann (Dan Bartholomay) of Minneapolis. He is also survived by several nieces and nephews.
