We are sad to announce that on September 26, 2025, at the age of 78, Gerald R. Scherer Jr. of Peoria, Illinois passed away. Leave a sympathy message to the family on the memorial page of Gerald R. Scherer Jr. to pay them a last tribute.
He was predeceased by: his parents, Gerald R. Sr. Scherer and Marilyn Scherer; and his brothers, Phillip Renze, Gregory Scherer and Donald Scherer.
He is survived by: his wife Wendy S. Campbell of Peoria; his children, Tony Scherer of Ft. Wayne, IN and Heather Davis of Ft. Wayne, IN; his siblings, Lawrence Scherer, Richard Scherer (Christina), Mike Scherer, Suzanne Scherer and Sherry Eaton; and his grandson Robert T. Scherer.
Visitation will be held on Wednesday, October 1st 2025 from 5:00 PM to 7:00 PM and on Thursday, October 2nd 2025 from 9:30 AM to 10:30 AM. A prayer will be held on Wednesday, October 1st 2025 at 7:00 PM at the Wright & Salmon Mortuary (2416 North North Street, Peoria, IL 61604). A funeral Mass will be held on Thursday, October 2nd 2025 at 10:30 AM at the St. Philomena Catholic Church (1000 W Albany Ave, Peoria, IL 61604).
In lieu of flowers, a donation can be made to St. Philomena Catholic School, tuition program.
