With solemn hearts, we announce the passing of John L. Gibson (Peoria, Illinois), whose presence will be deeply missed, having departed on May 27, 2026 at the age of 86. Family and friends are welcome to leave their condolences on this memorial page and share them with the family.

He was predeceased by: his parents, Reverend Spencer Gibson and Alberta Gibson Sr.; his former wife Victory A. Jackson-Gibson; his sons, Kerry Cornell Gibson, Kary Lester Gibson and Kevin John Gibson; his stepson Bruce Cockfield Jr.; and his grandson Jamanni M. Gibson.

He is survived by: his wife Gigi M. Hamilton-Gibson; his children, Kimberly Warr and Kayretha Parker; and his stepchildren, Andriea A. Cockfield, Natasha R. Cockfield and Nicole McNeil (DeMarcus). He is also survived by grandchildren, great-grandchildren, extended family.

In 2006, he was inducted into Metropolitan Who's Who, a prestigious acknowledgment of his influence, excellence, and enduring contributions to both the spiritual and civic community.
