He was predeceased by: his parents, Anna Virant Pestl and Anton Zuzak; and his brothers, Otto, Siegfried and Arnold Pestl.
He is survived by: his wife Hilde; his daughters, Rosemary Murphy (Joseph) and Dorothy Carter (John); his grandchildren, Jacqueline, Julianna, Cara, Emily and Jakob; and his sister Maria Stahl. He is also survived by numerous nieces and nephews.
