With heavy hearts, we announce the death of Lavonne McGarr of Peoria, Illinois, born in Klemme, Iowa, who passed away on May 14, 2023 at the age of 96. Leave a sympathy message to the family on the memorial page of Lavonne McGarr to pay them a last tribute.

She was predeceased by: her parents, William Hawkins and Alvina Hawkins (Osborne); her former husband Charles Downes Sr.; her husband Harry McGarr; her daughter Bonita Sue Knight; and her granddaughter Christina Brown.

She is survived by: her children, Connie Neyrinck of Farmington, Charles Downes Jr. (Judy) of Morton and Gerald Downes of Peoria. She is also survived by nine grandchildren and numerous great-grandchildren.

Memorials may be made to VFW Post 2 in Peoria.
