It is with deep sorrow that we announce the death of Loreane Stanford Birris of Peoria, Illinois, born in Inverness, Mississippi, who passed away on November 19, 2022, at the age of 89, leaving to mourn family and friends. She was predeceased by: her parents, Jesse Stanford, Sr. and Kattie Loreane Holman-Grant; her husband Dave Birris, Sr.; her siblings, Lucille Stanford, Lillie Mae Wren, John D. Stanford and Roosevelt Grant; and her daughter Katie Loreane Birris-Simons.
She is survived by: her children, Albert Calvin, Jr. (Lucille) of Greenville, MS, Dave I. Birris, Jr. of Denver, CO, Samuel Birris of California, Jonathan Birris of California, Sidney Birris (Sherry) of McDonough, GA, Shirley W. Payton, Hattie M. Owens, Ellen Birris-Herrod of Peoria and Terry Birris-Farmer of Minneapolis, Minnesota; and her uncle Lee Otis Stanford of Vicksburg, MS. She is also survived by 25 grandchildren; a host of great grandchildren, nephews, nieces, other relatives and friends.
Due to Covid-19, social distancing is encouraged to be consistent with recommendations from the National Funeral Directors Association (NFDA), funeral home directors have been instructed and should follow CDC guidelines on gatherings, including those directly related to funerals, visitations, or graveside services. In an effort to mitigate the spread of COVID-19, we ask that everyone in attendance: wear a face mask and refrain from hugging, kissing and shaking hands (as hard as it is to see someone you care about and not touch them).
