It is with deep sorrow that we announce the death of Martha Owens of Peoria, Illinois, born in Coahoma, Mississippi, who passed away on October 30, 2022, at the age of 93, leaving to mourn family and friends. She was predeceased by: her parents, Henry Jones and Birtha Jones (Brooks); her husband Alex Owens, Sr.; her sons, Allen Owens and Elex Owens, Jr.; her siblings, John Wright, Roy Jones, Flora Brown, Virginia Lotts and Mary Jones; her grandson Freddie Roberts; and her great grandchild Kente Owens.

She is survived by: her children, Richard Owens, Steve Owens (Mattie), David Owens, Betty Roberts, Rochelle Owens and Timothy Jones (Shantea) of Peoria, IL. She is also survived by great grandchildren, great greatgrandchildren, nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

Due to Covid-19, social distancing is encouraged to be consistent with recommendations from the National Funeral Directors Association (NFDA), funeral home directors have been instructed and should follow CDC guidelines on gatherings, including those directly related to funerals, visitations, or graveside services. In an effort to mitigate the spread of COVID-19, we ask that everyone in attendance: wear a face mask and refrain from hugging, kissing and shaking hands (as hard as it is to see someone you care about and not touch them).
