He was predeceased by: his grandparents, Cecil and Audrey Miller; his parents, Leroy Purtilar and R. Lorraine Purtilar (Miller); his sister Jeannine Brown; his mother-in-law Linda Scully; and his brother-in-law Jesse Brown.
He is survived by: his children, Nicole Szabo (Aaron) of Taylorville, Michael Purtilar (Arev) of Michigan, Joey Purtilar (Megan) of Michigan and Jordan Purtilar of Michigan; his brother Rick Purtilar of Taylorville; his niece Audra Brown (Justin Osterhous); his great-nephew Jesse Osterhous; his grandchildren, Damian Szabo and Ruby Szabo; and his close friends, Rob and Mary Rever.
