He was predeceased by: his wife Jacqueline "Jackie" Hunter Klaus; his parents, Henry Klaus and Wilma Klaus; and his brother Richard Klaus. He is survived by: his grandchildren, Chase, Abby, Samantha, Caroline, Hunter and Connor; and his sister Carmen Oakford.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to OSF Healthcare Foundation to benefit the OSF Cancer Institute.
