He was predeceased by: his parents, Kathleen Danforth McDougal and Wheeler McDougal, Sr.; and his sister Kay McDougal Stevenson (Robert "Bob" Stevenson). He is survived by: his wife Jane Laughlin; his children, Wheeler McDougal, III of Virginia Beach and Amy McDougal Albrecht of Sheridan, Wyoming.; his stepson Brian Laughlin (Karmin) of Centerville; his stepgrandchildren, Maggie Nelson (Chris) and Brenna Quarles (Derek); his stepson Stuart Laughlin (Angela) of Morton; his stepgrandchildren, Gabriel Laughlin (Mallory), Olivia Laughlin and Lily Laughlin; and his grandchildren, Regan Kidd (Michael), Wheeler McDougal, IV, William Albrecht and Nicholas Albrecht.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to St. Michaels and All Angels Church or the Alzheimer's Association.
