He was predeceased by: his wife Laura Miller Lane Barnett; his son Harold "Ham" MacDowell; his granddaughter Hannah Oldfield; his parents, Albert Barnett and Elma Barnett; his siblings, Carl Barnett, Arthur Barnett (Peggy), Erik Barnett (Emily), Paul Barnett (Dorothy) and Ruth Collins (Tom); his nephews, Steven Barnett, Charles Barnett, Stanley Barnett, John Barnett and Carl Barnett; his niece Mary Starr; his siblings, Carol Streater (John), Eva Van Buren (Howard), Vern Prescott, Jack Harding, Warren Lane (Charlotte), Betty Shaffer, Jim Lane and Doug Smith; his nephew Steve Prescott; his niece Francois Smith; Mortimer and Mary Lane.
He is survived by: his children, Ruth Campbell, Ted Barnett (Martha), Eileen Greenham (Jonathan), Carol Oldfield (John), Martha McNair (Steve) and Jim Barnett (Bev); his great grandchildren, Lisa, Jessie (Averie), Jonathan, Caroline, Ted, Annie, Willie, Becky, Jennifer, Shaun (Gabby), Brigitte, Raha, Ryan (Zephyr), Jason, Marti, Alex, James, Caredwen (Gwendolen), Rachel, Chad, Dawn, Zach (Alaina Mae), Catherine, Steven and Deborah; his siblings, Roy Shaffer, Ruth Smith, Arlyne Lane and Don McDonald; and his children, Bill and Laura. He is also survived by many friends, co-workers.
During his retirement years in California (1991-2014), he led a recycling ministry at Trabuco Canyon Community Church, "Can Do," which produced over $1000 to donate to missions annually.
