He was predeceased by: his parents, August Kunkel and Teresa Kunkel; his wife Sharon Kunkel (Weisenburger); and his brothers, Aloysius, August, Richard, Joseph and Ken Kunkel.
He is survived by: his sons, Mark Kunkel (Jennifer) of Belvidere, Kurt Kunkel (Rita) of Lemont, Kent Kunkel (Beth) of Peru and Scot Kunkel of DeKalb; his grandchildren, Courtney, Lauren, Thomas, Grace, Jack, Bridget and Alec; his great grandchildren, Alexis, Joanna, Louie and Kennedy; and his siblings, Lawrence Kunkel (Mick), Eugene Kunkel and Teresa Kunkel.
Visitation will be held on Friday, June 13th 2025 from 9:00 AM to 11:00 AM at the Sacred Heart Catholic Church (311 Hennepin St, Granville, IL 61326). A Mass of Christian burial will be held on Friday, June 13th 2025 at 11:00 AM at the same location.
In lieu of flowers contributions may be made to St. Bede Academy or the American Red Cross.
