We bid farewell to Margaret A. Black of Petersburg, Illinois, whose journey of life gracefully concluded on January 2, 2026 at the age of 93. Margaret touched countless lives with warmth and kindness, leaving behind cherished memories that will forever echo in hearts. She was predeceased by: her parents, William J. Chestnut and Cathryn Chestnut (Casey); and her husband William Alic Black, Jr.. She is survived by: her children, Robert E. Black (Carolyn Layman) and Bonnie Patterson (Mike); her grandchildren, Robby Black (Libby), Ryan Black (Monse), Griffin Patterson (Jessica), Logan Patterson (Natasha Ahmed) and Lathan Patterson; and her great grandchildren, Ellie, Indy, Averie and Nolan. She is also survived by several nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be held on Friday, February 6th 2026 from 11:00 AM to 12:00 PM at the Vancil-Murphy Funeral Home (437 S Grand Ave W, Springfield, IL 62704). A funeral service will be held on Friday, February 6th 2026 at 12:00 PM at the same location.
In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital or Animal Protective League.
