He was predeceased by: his parents, Orval Rushing and Ernestine Rushing (Jenkel); his son Parry Rushing; and his siblings, Marion Rushing, Maurice Rushing and Phyllis Scherle (Ken).

He is survived by: his wife Evelyn Helvey of Pinckneyville, IL; his children, Janice Halstead (Keith), Kyle Rushing (Christi) of Goliad, TX and Laura Moore (David) of Dallas, TX; and his brother Larry Rushing of Pinckneyville, IL. He is also survived by many cousins, nieces & nephews.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may made to Beaucoup Baptist Church.
