Millicent Simonds Bates Obituary
It is with great sadness that we announce the death of Millicent Simonds Bates of Pinckneyville, Illinois, who passed away on July 14, 2025, at the age of 103, leaving to mourn family and friends. Family and friends are welcome to leave their condolences on this memorial page and share them with the family.
She was predeceased by: her parents, Thomas W. Simonds and Zuma Crain Simonds. She is survived by: her children, Jan Bates Wheeler (Mark) of Athens, GA, Joseph Clark Bates III (Mary Louise) of Falmouth, ME, Maya Bates (Bruce Smith) of Poland, IN, Leslie Bates Johnson (Doug) of Xenia, OH and Robert Bates of Gahanna, OH.; her grandchildren, Anna Wheeler Rosenquist (Niels), Eleanor Bates Keeler (Jake), Elizabeth Simonds Roderick, David Roderick, Samuel Bates Wheeler (Micha), Joseph C. Bates IV (Cheryl) and Thomas Roderick (Carolyn); and her great grandchildren, Raoul, Aage, Jacob, Bo, Molly, Asa, Max, Ren, Kai Millie, Penny, Clark, Elliott and Ethan. She is also survived by many nieces and nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews, and a host of friends.
A funeral service will be held on Wednesday, July 23rd 2025 at 10:30 AM and at 11:30 AM.
