He was predeceased by: his parents, Irvin Mitchell and Mabel Sharrow Mitchell; his daughter Jean Mitchell; his granddaughter Jessica Hutcherson; his great grandchild Eliana Hutcherson; and his siblings, Kenneth Mitchell and Joan Ellis-O'Neil.

He is survived by: his wife Barbara Mitchell; his daughters, Janice Copeland (Kyle) of Salmon, ID, Kandis Hull (Stan) of Pittsfield, IL and Pamela Payne (Leroy) of Steelville, MO; and his grandchildren, Josh Copeland, Donnie Myers (Heidi), Mitchell Hull (Laura), Lauren Smith (Jeff), Kevin Payne and Katie Payne. He is also survived by ten great grandchildren; and two great great grandchildren.

Memorials are suggested to be made to Gray Cemetery.
