She was predeceased by: her parents, Joseph Spix and Genevieve Spix; her sister Patricia Blachowski; and her brother-in-law Robert Blachowski. She is survived by: her husband John; her sons, John Jr. and Brad; her grandchildren, Austin, Julia and Jolene; and her brother Joseph Spix (Kathleen). She is also survived by many nieces, nephews and cousins.
Visitation will be held on Sunday, November 22nd 2026 from 1:00 PM to 6:00 PM at the Overman-Jones Funeral Home (15219 Joliet Rd, Plainfield, IL 60544). A Mass of Christian burial will be held on Monday, November 23rd 2026 at 10:30 AM at the St. Mary Immaculate Catholic Church (15629 Illinois Rte 59, Plainfield, IL 60544).
In lieu of flowers donations can be made in Barbara's memory to the aforementioned, or to Autism research organizations, or any School Districts' Performing Arts Programs.
