It is with great sadness that we announce the death of John A. Smith (Plainfield, Illinois), born in Chicago, Illinois, who passed away on April 11, 2026, at the age of 84, leaving to mourn family and friends. In the vast expanse of eternity, John shall find rest, cradled in the arms of everlasting peace. And as we bid John farewell, his loved ones carry with them the precious gift of his memory, a beacon of hope guiding them through the shadows of sorrow towards the light of a new dawn.
He was predeceased by: his parents, Joseph Smith and Jessie Smith; and his siblings, Carolyn Cowper (Tom) and Joseph Smith (Daina). He is survived by: his wife Loretta Smith; his children, Len Smith (Darlene) and Kim Dziewinski (John); and his grandchildren, Zach, Brett Smith, Jonathan and Jayden Dziewinski. He is also survived by numerous nieces, nephews and dear friends.
