He was predeceased by: his parents, Walter Mahler and Esther Mahler (Dreyer); his wife Barbara J. Smith; and his granddaughter Amber Sparling. He is survived by: his children, Debby Sparling of Springfield, IL, Tim Mahler of Springfield, IL, Steve Mahler of Springfield, IL, Dave Mahler (Julie) of Ozark, AL and Brad Mahler of Pleasant Plains, IL; his grandchildren, Heather Sparling, Shannon Sparling, Mike Sparling, Crystal Schneider (Josh), David Mahler (Kim), Adam Mahler (Sarah), Zack Mahler (Carrie) and Clifton Mahler; and his sister Sandra Stowater of Cherokee, IA.. He is also survived by eleven great-grandchildren.
Visitation was held on Wednesday, September 23rd 2026 from 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM at the Zion Lutheran Church (525 N Cartwright St, Pleasant Plains, IL 62677). A funeral service was held on Wednesday, September 23rd 2026 at 11:00 AM at the same location.
