He was loved and cherished by many people including : his parents, Charles Lamar and Elnora Alice Knowlton (Wheeler); his daughter Elizabeth Stogsdill; his wife Elizabeth; his sons, Richard Lamar Knowlton II, Joel Andrew Knowlton (Marcia) and Timothy James Knowlton; and his siblings, Christopher O'Neal, Sheila Wedemeyer, Stephanie English, Charles Starkey and Jeanne Hurst. He was also cherished by many grandchildren and great grandchildren.
