It is with great sadness that we announce the death of Gary Alt of Poplar Grove, Illinois, who passed away on January 3, 2026, at the age of 72, leaving to mourn family and friends. Family and friends are welcome to leave their condolences on this memorial page and share them with the family.
He was predeceased by: his parents, Floyd Alt and Viola Alt (Voss); his stepmother Patricia Alt (Peterson); and his sisters, Carol Lieb (Dave) and Linda Burnett.
He is survived by: his wife Valerie Alt; his son Jeremy Alt (Kristin); his grandchildren, Charlotte and Elliott; his siblings, Bonnie Russ, Brenda Buchanan (Buck) and Robert Peterson; his parents-in-law, Peggy Malecha and Al Malecha; his siblings-in-law, Susan Vermett (Randy), Diane Malecha-Urban (Tom), Leanne Malecha and Robert Malecha (LaChelle); and his cousin Ron Cutts. He is also survived by other cousins; numerous nieces, nephews, grandnieces, grandnephews, great grandnieces, and great grandnephews.
In lieu of flowers, contributions can be made to the family for a future memorial in Gary's name.
