He was predeceased by: his great-nephew Matthew Thiel; and his parents, Heinrich Heitkotter and Josefa Heitkotter. He is survived by: his siblings' children, Thedore Witte (Linda), Robert Witte (Sally Guregian) and Julie Thiel (David); his great-nieces and great-nephews, Chris Witte, David and Heidi; his siblings, Ursula Witte, Juliane, Annelise and Heinz; and his close friend Erika Huett.
