He was predeceased by: his parents, William A. Smith and Helen F. Smith (Rudsel); his father-in-law Benedict Ruebbelke; his siblings, Robert, Tommy Smith, Betty Rosa (Tony), Dorothy Bringer (Raymond), Carlene 'Cookie Johnson and Pat 'Tuni Jackson (Jerry); and his siblings-in-law, John Bringer and Pat Smith.
He is survived by: his wife Debra Wingerter (Ruebbelke); his sons, Jeremy L. Wingerter of Quincy and Shawn M. Smith (Jamie Wheat) of Quincy; his siblings, Janet Bringer and Lonnie Smith (Karen); his mother-in-law Bernadine Ruebbelke; and his sisters-in-law, Nancy Smith and Judy Smith Numerous. He is also survived by Numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and other relatives.
Memorials may be made to St. Peter Catholic Church, the Quincy Medical Group Cancer Center, the United Way of Adams County or to the Blessing Foundation for Hospice.
